Oil tempering process is the term commonly used in the wire industry to designate a type of wire which receives a hardening and tempering treatment after it has been drawn to the desired size. The term is in fact incorrect as the process consists of a heating above the critical temperature, one oil quenching and one reheating or tempering (usually in lead) to relieve the quench hardness obtained. Nowhere in the sequence is oil to be found as the tempering medium. This type of wire is recognized by the spring makers because of its combination of excellent elastic properties and good toughness.
Advantage
Only Wire rods with the quality suitable for oil-tempered wires are used. The most modern wire surface shaving equipment In-line heat treatment facility to guarantee “zero” de-carburization. Oil Tempering line capable of maintaining uniform oxide coating with “zero de-carburization.” No surface defects on final products 100% guaranteed with Double Eddy Current Testing. Eddy Current testing is carried out on material with high demands on surface quality Capable of producing OT wire with various thickness of oxide layer required by the customer.|
